- 1 lb ground beef or sausage
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 29 oz can of tomato sauce
- 15 oz can of diced tomatoes (do not drain)
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dried oregano (I use more to taste)
- Optional spices to taste: Italian seasoning, dried basil, garlic powder, pepper
- 8 oz uncooked lasagna noodles
- 2-4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 1/2 cups or 12 oz cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
Cook meat, onion, and garlic together until browned. Drain. Stir in tomatoes, sauce, paste, and seasonings. Mix well. In separate bowl, combine the cheeses together. Spread 1/4 of the meat/tomato mixture in the bottom of an ungreased crock pot (Preferably 4 quarts). Arrange 1/3 of the noodles over the sauce. Spoon 1/3 of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat layers twice. Top with remaining meat sauce. (Optional: 1 cup of water) Cover and cook on low 4-5 hours or on high 2-3 hours.
